The Tell-Tale Heart

It's a disease!
It haunts me
Opens up my eyes to the world that surrounds
Am I mad!?
Am I crazy!?
I'll try to tell you the story of how this all went wrong

There was no reason
No basis for my decision
But if I had to guess
It was his damned eye!
THE EYE OF A VULTURE!
A pale blue eye
That hit me like a train
Made my blood run cold
It messed with my brain

So I decided
Because of the torture
To rid the world
Of this man's evil eye

I came into his house
He was sleeping
The room was getting colder
His heartbeat driving me like a soldier

I yelled in a fury
Ran to his side
I dragged him to the floor
Under his mattress he died!
It's a disease!
It haunts me
Opens up my eyes to the world that surrounds
Am I mad!?
Am I crazy!?
I know how all this sounds
But believe me its worth it

I took precautions ever so cleverly
I made sure there was not a trace
I cut up the body so clean and so clearly
I put him under the floor with haste

And to my surprise three officers came in
I showed them around
Told them I was the man's kin

We all sat down
I, over the man's corpse
Started Conversation
His heartbeat panting like a horse
It's a disease!
It haunts me
Opens up my eyes to the world that surrounds
Am I mad!?
Am I crazy!?
I try to talk louder
But I can't drown

Out the sound of his heart
Beating louder and louder

I can't take it I'm done
They must know by now
I rip up the boards
And show them how I did it
It's a disease!
It haunts me
Opens up my eyes to the world that surrounds
Am I mad!?
Am I crazy!?

I'll never drown out the sounds...
